1. Government Bonds Secrecy
Under Section 2 of Republic Act Number 1405, otherwise known as the Secrecy of Bank Deposits Law, all deposits of whatever nature with banks or banking institutions in the Philippines, including investments in bonds issued by the Government of the Philippines, its political subdivisions, and its instrumentalities, are considered of an absolutely confidential nature. The bank cannot disclose such government bond investments to the Bureau of Internal Revenue without a written permission from the depositor or a specific statutory exception.

2. Peso Deposit Garnishment
Under Philippine banking law and established civil procedure jurisprudence, an order of garnishment issued by a court of competent jurisdiction against a judgment debtor's peso bank deposit does not violate the Secrecy of Bank Deposits Law. Garnishment is not an inquiry into the detailed balance or history of the account, but a legal process enforcing a judicial writ. The bank is legally required to comply with the court order by holding and surrendering the garnished peso funds to satisfy the judgment.

3. Foreign Currency Protection
Under Section 8 of Republic Act Number 6426, known as the Foreign Currency Deposit Act of the Philippines, foreign currency deposits are absolutely confidential and exempt from attachment, execution, or garnishment by any court, administrative body, or government agency. Unlike domestic peso deposits, an order of garnishment cannot reach dollar deposits held in a domestic bank unless the foreign currency depositor provides explicit written consent authorizing the disclosure and garnishment.
