1. Self-Incrimination Scope
Under Section 17, Article III of the 1987 Constitution, the privilege against self-incrimination protects an accused strictly against testimonial compulsion or the extraction of communicative evidence. The privilege does not prohibit the examination of the body of the accused or the physical extraction of real or object evidence. Consequently, subjecting an accused to medical procedures or bodily examinations to retrieve physical objects does not violate the constitutional prohibition against self-incrimination.

2. Object Evidence Admissibility
Under Rule 130 of the Rules of Court, object or real evidence consists of tangible things addressed to the senses of the court when relevant to the fact in issue. Physical items retrieved from the body of an accused, such as ingested contraband, constitute real evidence rather than testimonial statements. As long as the object evidence is relevant, authenticated, and obtained without violating the constitutional protection against unreasonable searches and seizures, it remains fully admissible in criminal proceedings.

3. Bodily Search Boundaries
The constitutional right against unreasonable searches and seizures under Section 2, Article III of the Constitution guards against arbitrary state intrusions into personal privacy and physical integrity. While bodily search and surgical procedures intrude into bodily autonomy, evidence extracted through medical intervention is admissible if conducted by qualified medical professionals under legitimate law enforcement necessity. The exclusionary rule applies specifically to unconstitutional searches and seizures rather than lawful medical retrievals of swallowed physical contraband.
