1. Improper Lawyer Familiarity
Under the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability, a lawyer must avoid improper familiarity with judges or creating any public perception of possessing special influence. Hosting lavish social events for members of the bench or engaging in exclusive recreational activities with sitting judges compromises professional propriety. Even if pending cases are never discussed during social interactions, such continuous close association undermines public confidence in the impartial administration of justice and violates the attorney's ethical duty of propriety.

2. Judicial Appearance Impropriety
Under the New Code of Judicial Conduct, judges are required to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all legal and personal activities. Members of the bench must maintain independence and refrain from fraternizing with active legal practitioners under circumstances that suggest favoritism or undue influence. Gracing private parties hosted by lawyers or regularly accepting invitations to play golf at exclusive clubs creates an impression of bias, eroding public faith in judicial neutrality and independence.

3. Judicial Independence Protection
Judicial independence and impartiality are foundational pillars of the legal system that require judges to remain free from inappropriate social connections with litigants or counsel. Public perception of judicial fairness is as critical as actual impartiality in deciding controversies. When judges participate in regular social gatherings organized by lawyers who practice before courts, the integrity of the judicial process is compromised, subjecting both the attorney and the participating judges to administrative disciplinary sanctions.
